September makes me feel like a soccer goalie in penalty kicks. Aside from getting the kids into a new routine, there is so much coming at me. Back to School Nights, grade potlucks, and room parent meetings fill the calendar. Jennifer Garner was recently quoted as saying that September for her family is ‘bananas.’ I feel you, Jen Garner.
If you aren’t one of those power Mamas (and I am certainly not) it feels like an endurance test. My family is seeing numbers on the alarm clock that we haven’t seen since June. It’s sort of like jet lag. Our bodies are adjusting to this new time zone called school.
With all of the September craziness of getting the kids back to school, dinner at my house never changes. I call a time out in the action and we sit down to dinner together. There is no doubt, it’s the best part of my day. My meal planners keep me organized, my pantry stocked, and dinner on the table. Check out these amazing dinner ideas for the week ahead.
So, high fives all around for the Mamas out there who survived the September crush. Bring on October!
Enjoy.

Confession: I was drawn to this recipe because it looked like a southwestern version of Hamburger Helper. Anyone out there remember Hamburger Helper? This Southwestern Skillet Ragu was like a chili/pasta casserole in a skillet. I served with freshly grated cheddar cheese and Tortilla Chips.

White, flaky fish in a delicious sauce of tomatoes, corn, and zucchini. This Fish with Summer Vegetables is one of my husband’s favorite dinners. Serve with rice or orzo to soak up all of that sauce!
