I am off to Portland for a weekend with my high school girlfriends. It’s been forever since we’ve all been together and I can’t wait to see them. These are the friends who have been with me through every stage of my life, finish sentences for me, and make me laugh so hard I can’t breathe. It doesn’t matter what city we are in, when I’m with them I feel like I’m home.
I arrive home on Sunday with my meal plan in place. I’m so excited about this week’s dinners that I’m already hungry. Check out my ideas for a delicious week filled with a perfect sauce, a comforting one pot wonder, and my kids most favorite meal on the planet.
Good luck with your dinners this week. I can’t wait to hear what you loved!

Marcella Hazen, also known as the “Queen of Italian Cuisine” gifted us this simple but perfect tomato sauce recipe. You will be surprised that three ingredients (that are probably in your kitchen right now) produce the most perfect sauce. Consider adding a loaf of bread for extra sauce and my Roasted Broccoli.

Smitten Kitchen nails it with this addictive Sticky Sesame Chicken. She offered it up as a Super Bowl Menu suggestion and now I offer it up as something called dinner. If you are lucky enough to have leftovers, they go right in the school lunch boxes. I’ll serve this with rice and simple green beans.

What the heck is Harira? Only the most soul satisfying one pot wonder of a dish. It has everything in it that I love: lentils, garbanzo beans, rice, and chicken. I adjust the spices (leaving out the cinnamon but that’s just me). It’s a perfect addition for our family viewing night of The Goldbergs and Survivor.

My husband’s Thursday night poker game predates our 20 year relationship. While he’s off with his friends, the real party is at home with the kids. They pick the menu for the night, we make a yogurt run, and bedtime is flexible. It’s no surprise they chose their all time favorite, Chicken Teriyaki.
